Dennis O’Sullivan has more than 20 years’ experience in coalition building, strategy development and targeted media relations. Dennis has the innate ability to develop creative and effective public affairs solutions to the most complicated of issues.
Dennis most recently spent more than a decade at the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC), a membership organization representing more than 150 health care organizations in the Tri-State area. In his role as Senior Director of External Affairs for MCHC, he provided strategic direction and oversight of MCHC’s government relations, marketing, public relations and membership divisions, as well as led media relations for Land of Lincoln Health, the state’s first and only CO-OP insurance company.
Dennis’ numerous accomplishments at MCHC include working on the successful application and launch of Land of Lincoln Health, a campaign to keep the Illinois Poison Center from closing, which was awarded the Publicity Club of Chicago’s top award in 2015, and stopping a proposal to tax hospitals in Cook County.
O’Sullivan spearheaded collaboration efforts to launch and grow the MetroChicago Health Insurance Exchange and has played an integral role in the launch of the Center for Advancing Provider Practices, a national provider database.
MCHC members and other industry leaders have recognized Dennis as a “proactive, strategic and collaborative resource leader” with “a real knack for seeing the big picture to develop winning strategies on large-scale projects.” “Dennis’ strategic contributions in the health care field are numerous and have helped result in positive disruptions in the marketplace. Dennis’ experience and knowledge of the issues, people and industry can add value to any organization.”
Prior to his tenure at MCHC, Dennis worked in a number of government and public relations positions in the private and public sector, including the U.S. House of Representatives, Illinois State Treasurer’s Office, Rotary International, the Colorado and Illinois House of Representatives and a number of political campaigns.
Dennis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois and is a member of the Association of Health Care Executives, the Publicity Club of Chicago and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Leadership Network.
